      Veterans Day 2014
      Assembly- Decorations & Gift

      Chair: Lindsey, Meg, Sydney
      Committee: Lance, Emmaline, Tiana, Monica
      • Map out where we will put: chairs, stage, screen, speakers, flag (it might be helpful to look at past year’s binders)
      • How will we decorate the assembly?
      • Order flag pins for veterans-
      • What do we need to buy?
      • Make name cards for those sitting on the stand (speakers, mayor, Student Body President, PR Rep, veterans being honored, special guests, school board, etc)
      • Reserve chairs from Provo City
      • Take a list of all the teachers and make assignments for where they will sit throughout the Thunderdome (this will help keep the atmosphere quiet during the assembly)- send to Baker
      • Make a sign for Veteran parking on the range- nice & easy to read
      • Make a list of things to do for set up
      • Make assignments for each student gov member and where they will usher during the assembly
      • Iron flag bunting
      • Little flags outside in the grass?
      Assembly- Program & Speakers

      • Look at last few year’s programs and decide how you will layout the program
      • Who will be our MC?- Stevenson
      • Talk to Performers/Music committee for acts
      • Set up students speaker tryouts
      • need to be able to give a bio of veteran being honored)
      • Choose student speakers
      • What veterans will we honor?
      • Will we have a guest speaker?
      • Have the speakers/honored veteran’s been told when to be there at the assembly?
      • Invite student speakers to dress rehearsal
      • Invite Mayor to say a few words
      • Rough Draft program
      Assembly- Performers & Music
      Chair: Keely & Chandler
      Committee: Nathaniel, Sam, Ashley, Britain, Niel
      • Look at last few year’s performers for ideas
      • Contact & Invite Independence ROTC (flag)
      • Invite Ballroom to participate
      • Who will sign the National Anthem? Madilyn Paige
      • Invite band to play
      • Give performers a program to know what place they will perform
      • Invite performers to dress rehearsal
      • Any other musical numbers (children’s choir, special musical guest…etc)
      • Make slideshow of pictures to play while people are entering and/or during band performances


      Luncheon Food & Decorations
      Chair: Rachel, Paige, Sage
      Committee: Andy, Katie, Sami, Brooke, Lindsey

      • How will we decorate the North gym for the luncheon? (layout a map) We have asked the neighboring elementary school to draw thank yous to the veterans before to hang on the wall or use as placemats
      • Contact custodial for tables and chairs (most of the chairs will be moved in from the assembly)
      • Who is preparing the food (cafeteria? Catering class?) Who is serving (THS Catering?)?
      • Invite PTA to make dessert. If they can’t, then make assignments for student government members to make a desert plate
      • Set up a table for gifts for veterans
      • What do we need to buy?

      • Posters for Assembly/Tribute
      • Invitations (on card stock)
      • Electronic copy of invite sent to Baker
      • Poster put on Facebook
      • Poster placed around school
      • Poster put up throughout community
      • Take some invitations down to Provo City offices for distribution
      • Make a comment card for veterans who attending to fill in their information and any comments they had (We will use these cards to invite them again in the future)
      • Make usher pins for student government members (Tyson)
      • Invite Provo Channel to video tape (invite local news stations to cover the assembly)
      • Invite school district PR rep to be there
